A Gin to Surpass All Others

Sutler’s Spirit Company provided samples of their products at a recent Chef and Maker event at Pinehurst Resort. Their gin company is based in Winston Salem, North Carolina. They show how working with the community and local farmers can enhance the flavors of your products.

Sutler’s gin added a creative take to this fresh summer cocktail. Make your own watermelon rosemary lemonade by following the recipe below. As the company shares, “Life is too short to drink bad cocktails.”

Ingredients

  • 2 qt. lemonade
  • 2 qt. fresh watermelon juice (purée seedless watermelon in a blender and strain through a fine mesh strainer, 1 medium watermelon should yield about 2 qts.)
  • 1 bottle (750 ml.) Sutler’s Gin
  • 1 medium bunch fresh rosemary
  • club soda (lemon flavored is recommended)

Directions

  1. Juice the watermelon and add the rosemary to it at least 3 hours (up to 24 hours) before combining the rest of the ingredients.
  2. Combine everything except the club soda into a large beverage dispenser with a spigot at the bottom.
  3. Pour over ice and top with the club soda, garnish with fresh rosemary and watermelon.

**If making your watermelon rosemary lemonade non-alcoholic, try different add ins. You can use juniper syrup. (This recipe will take you through how to make your own. Scroll down the page to find it.) You can also vary the levels of tonic water that you use, adding in more, based on the flavor you desire. Try different juices, to make the best flavor combination. If you find an add-in that you like, be sure to share it with me. I’ll add it to the recipe 🙂
