About the Recipe

If you’ve been looking for a great recipe to add extra flavor to your dishes, you can’t go wrong with a tasty barbecue sauce. This recipe from Hudson’s real can add that extra kick to any of your favorite meat or seafood dishes. It’s easy to make and has just the right amount of spices and flavor to have people hounding you for the recipe.

Yields approximately 1 gallon of barbecue sauce

Ingredients:

  • ½ lb. whole butter
  • ¼ c. chopped garlic
  • 1 yellow onion (medium dice)
  • 1 of each: green pepper, red pepper, and celery stalk (medium dice)
  • ½ c. BBQ sauce
  • ½ c. heavy cream
  • ¼ c. Worchester sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp. creole seasoning
  • 1 lemon (juice and zest)
  • 2 pints bud light beer
  • ¼ tbsp. shrimp paste

Method:

  1. In a sauce pot over medium heat add the whole butter and melt until slightly brown.
  2. Add the chopped garlic and lightly caramelize.
  3. Add the onions, peppers and celery. Sweat until translucent.  
  4. Deglaze with the beer and reduce until ½ liquid is remaining.
  5. Add the BBQ sauce, heavy cream, Worchester sauce and shrimp stock.
  6. Add the creole seasoning and incorporate.  
  7. Bring ingredients to boil and reduce to a simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Add lemon juice and zest and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  9. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
