Spanish has been a huge part of my life since high school. I have loved the language, the culture, the foods and especially the dances. The bachata has always intrigued me, as I did not know much about this dance.
I have been a teacher for almost 20 years and have used my language skills to teach children and adults the Spanish language. I have also been a medical interpreter, curriculum developer and online course instructor, helping to share my love of the Spanish language and culture with everyone I meet.
On a recent trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the staff at the Nickelodeon Hotels and Resorts taught the guests some dances. I already knew how to dance the salsa and the merengue, but had always wanted to learn the bachata. Here was my opportunity!
Below is a brief introduction to the bachata. These basic steps will have you dancing in no time. Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to have some fun!
